PMAN warns FCT hotels on live band permits
🚨 Seek Permit for Live Music Band or Risk Sanctions – PMAN Tells FCT Hotel Owners, Others
The Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has issued a strong directive to hotel owners and entertainment operators in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), warning them to obtain proper permits before hosting live music performances.
PMAN’s Directive
PMAN emphasized that any establishment intending to feature live bands or musical performances must first secure the necessary approval from the association.
According to the body, failure to comply will attract sanctions and possible enforcement actions.
The association’s acting governor, Michael Oyibo Kaycee, made this known during a press conference in Abuja on Friday.
He warned stakeholders in the entertainment sector in Abuja to always engage certified musicians.
According to him, the association would henceforth not tolerate exploitation, disrespect, or underpayment to musicians in the nation’s capital.
“You are required to obey industrial standards, engage certified musicians, and fill your obligations.
“Our task force is fully operational from today. The system has been taken for granted for too long. It is high time for everybody to understand the function of PMAN in FCT. Show planners, event planners are to take permission from the association.
He raised alarm over the sharp decline in television viewership, describing it as “extremely low” in today’s fast-evolving digital age.
“today, virtually everyone carries a television in their hands. A young boy in a remote area can gain global recognition simply through digital influence. This clearly shows that digital platforms are now the dominant force in content distribution,” he said.
He urged the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to intervene in the plight of the association.
PMAN has directed hotel owners and entertainment operators in the FCT to obtain permits before hosting live music bands. The association warned that failure to comply will result in sanctions and enforcement actions.
