NYSC NERD Certificate Rule: What Graduates Must Know Before Mobilisation

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially announced that graduates without a NERD compliance certificate will no longer be mobilised for national service.

The policy, popularly described as “No NERD, No NYSC,” is part of the Federal Government’s effort to fight certificate fraud and improve the credibility of Nigeria’s education system. (Voice of Nigeria)

What Is NERD?

NERD stands for Nigeria Education Repository and Databank.

It is a national digital platform created to:

• store academic records,
• verify graduates,
• archive student projects and theses,

New NYSC Rule Explained

According to NYSC and the Federal Government:

This applies to:

• University graduates
• Polytechnic graduates
• College of Education graduates
• Foreign-trained graduates (–)

Documents Required for NERD Clearance

Graduates may be required to upload:

• Final-year project/thesis
• Senate-approved results
• JAMB admission letter
• Academic records

When Will Enforcement Start?

NYSC says enforcement begins with:

• 2026 Batch B mobilisation, according to the Director-General of NYSC. (Peoples Gazette Nigeria)
