DJ Kulet Opens Up on Past Life Before Fame

Nigerian disc jockey DJ Kulet has sparked massive reactions online after reportedly revealing that she engaged in sex work in Surulere, Lagos, before finding fame in the entertainment industry.

The revelation surfaced during a recent interview clip that has since gone viral across social media platforms, generating intense debate among fans.

What DJ Kulet Allegedly Revealed

In the trending video, DJ Kulet spoke openly about her difficult past and how she struggled to survive before becoming a known figure in Nigeria’s nightlife scene.

She explained that her journey to success was not easy and involved several challenges while living in Surulere, one of Lagos’ busiest areas.

Her comments have been widely shared, though they remain based on her personal account as seen in the viral interview.

From Struggle to Entertainment Fame

DJ Kulet, also known as Kudirat Gbemisola Salami, is now recognized as a female Fuji-style DJ performing at clubs, shows, and events across Lagos and other parts of Nigeria.

Over the years, she has built a reputation in the nightlife industry, gradually rising from local gigs to more established performances.

Revisiting her past, Kulet said: “I just want to say thank you Jesus because my story here in Surulere was a very bad one. Everybody knows me because I grew up in Lawanson. But I repent, and God removed me from the gutter.”

Sharing the video on her Instagram page on Monday morning, she wrote, “How Jesus bought me my own house in Surulere, the same Surulere where the devil once messed me up. Jesus Christ turned my MESS to a MESSAGE (His Gospel).

“I was once homeless, and sleeping around. Of course you know me because I was very popular then. I was into prostitution. I was roaming the streets of Lagos homeless. Then a man rented a face me I slap for me. My cheap asewo work now elevate me to a room self-contained with a man’s money until Jesus Christ now elevated me to a room and parlor self-contained, then my DJ work don dey pay but the landlord frustrated me. He did not do the toilet for two years, I was going around to defecate.

“After two years of living in a house without a toilet, I was elevated to a four bedroom ensuite apartment where I’m currently living through my work as a DJ. Fast-forward to April last year, God bought a house for me here in the same Surulere. I did not sleep around to pay, and I paid in full with agent money.”

DAILY POST recalls that the DJ had in 2025, revealed that she was molested by a family member.
