The long-running paternity dispute involving musician David “Davido” Adeleke has resurfaced after a public appeal from a 12-year-old girl who claims to be his daughter and renewed calls from her mother for a fresh, independently supervised DNA test.

The girl, Anuoluwapo Mitchelle Adeleke, went public this week, asking Davido to agree to a DNA test to help resolve lingering questions about her identity. In her appeal, she said years of uncertainty have led to bullying at school and emotional distress, adding that she simply wants clarity about who her father is.

Davido has firmly denied the claim, stating that the issue was resolved years ago and insisting that multiple DNA tests were conducted and all returned negative results. The singer has dismissed the renewed claims and warned that he may pursue legal action if the matter continues to be discussed publicly.

Anu’s mother, Ayotomide Labinjo, has strongly disputed Davido’s version of events in an Instagram post. She maintains that only one DNA test was conducted in 2014 and alleges that it was compromised. According to her, the test was not properly carried out and the result presented was fraudulent. She has also addressed comments she says Davido made about her in the past, pushing back against how she was described.

“David Adeleke has ignored me for years because he thought he picked up a prostitute from GQ Club in Ibadan. I was a waitress, not a prostitute. I come from a good home,” she said.

However, the singer has disputed her account, claiming he never met her until the paternity test.

Private messages shared online appear to show the teenager repeatedly asking for clarity while Davido maintains his denial and issues warnings.

Labinjo has said the ongoing dispute has affected her daughter’s mental health, claiming Anu has fainted in school and required therapy due to stress linked to the unresolved claims.

In a further escalation, Labinjo said she plans to request the United States State Department to involve the US Embassy in Lagos or Abuja in supervising and witnessing a clean, independent DNA test, citing Davido’s US citizenship.

She insisted that the issue is not about attention or fame, but about her daughter’s sense of self.

“I’m not fighting for my daughter. My daughter is fighting for her identity,” Labinjo said.

As the dispute continues to unfold publicly, reactions remain divided, with some calling for a neutral resolution in the interest of the child involved, while others urge restraint given the girl’s age. For now, both sides remain firm in their positions, and no official court action has been announced.
