Lagos LCDA boss dismisses reports of bandit attack in Oko-Afo community

Mr Peter Ajose, the Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, has debunked reports of a bandit attack in Oko-Afo area of the council.

A statement by Ajose, on Tuesday in Lagos, said that his attention was drawn to a misleading and unfounded report on social media alleging that there was a bandit attack in the Oko-Afo area of Olorunda LCDA.

“The council wishes to categorically state that this report is entirely false and does not contain any iota of truth.

“There has been no such attack or security breach in Oko-Afo or any part of Olorunda LCDA.

“Residents are therefore advised to disregard the false information, which appears to have been deliberately planted to create unnecessary panic and fear among members of the community,” he said.

Ajose said that his administration remained committed to the safety and security of all residents.

“We are working closely with the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other relevant security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property across the council area.

“In further demonstration of this commitment, the council has strengthened its security architecture through the establishment of a Joint Task Force that works in collaboration with the police and other security agencies.

“The task force has been adequately equipped and strategically positioned to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace, law and order throughout Olorunda LCDA,” the council boss said.

According to him, the security situation within the council remains calm and under control.

Ajose urged residents to go about their lawful businesses and daily activities without fear, but remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or activity to the appropriate security authorities.

“The council urges members of the public to verify information from credible sources before sharing it and refrain from spreading unverified reports capable of causing public anxiety.

“Olorunda LCDA remains peaceful, secure and safe for all residents,” he said.
