Guber Poll: Ekiti PDP laments alleged detention of members 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has expressed concern over the reported detention of some of its members, calling on security agencies to provide information about their whereabouts and ensure due process is followed.

Speaking at a press briefing in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Deji Ogunsakin, said several members were reportedly taken into custody during security operations carried out in parts of the state.

According to Ogunsakin, party officials have been making inquiries through various security agencies to ascertain the status and location of those affected.

He said the development has generated anxiety among family members and supporters, who are seeking clarification on the circumstances surrounding the detentions.

Ogunsakin called on security agencies to act transparently and ensure that the rights of all citizens are respected in line with the law.

The PDP chieftain also urged security institutions to maintain neutrality as political activities ahead of the governorship election gather momentum.

He appealed to relevant authorities to provide necessary information regarding those reportedly detained and to reassure residents of their commitment to upholding democratic principles.

Also speaking, PDP leader Chief Sanya Atofarati called for continued efforts to address security challenges in the state, including incidents of kidnapping and other criminal activities.

He stressed the importance of maintaining a secure environment for residents and political stakeholders as preparations for the election continue.

The PDP leaders urged authorities to investigate the concerns raised and ensure that all actions taken by security agencies are in accordance with established legal procedures.
