“I Fought for 16 Years” – Eucharia Anunobi Opens Up on Son’s Battle With Sickle Cell Disease
Veteran Nollywood actress and evangelist, Eucharia Anunobi, has emotionally opened up about the painful journey she endured while caring for her late son who battled Sickle Cell Disease for many years.
Speaking in a recent interview, the actress revealed that she fought tirelessly for about 16 years trying to keep her son alive despite the severe health complications caused by the disease.
According to Anunobi, her son, Raymond Ekwu, struggled with the condition from a very young age, forcing her to dedicate most of her life to caring for him and seeking medical solutions.
The Nollywood star explained that the long battle with sickle cell disease was emotionally draining but also strengthened her faith and resilience.
She said the experience taught her patience, endurance, and the importance of trusting God even during the most difficult moments.
Raymond Ekwu sadly passed away in 2017 at the age of 15, a heartbreaking loss that shook the actress and many fans across Nigeria.
Despite the tragedy, Eucharia Anunobi has continued to speak publicly about sickle cell disease, using her story to encourage parents and raise awareness about the genetic condition that affects thousands of people across Africa.
Her recent revelation has sparked emotional reactions on social media, with many Nigerians praising her strength, courage, and devotion as a mother.
Sickle cell disease remains one of the most common inherited blood disorders in Nigeria, and health experts often encourage genotype testing before marriage to reduce the risk of passing the condition to children.
